Women In LeadershipTestimonial“The Women In Leadership course was informative, thought-provoking and thoroughly enjoyable. I have always had a strong commitment to equality of opportunity, awarenessof gender traits and the commitment to addressing imbalances. This courseallowed me to explore a range of avenues, expand my awareness andconsider subtle nuances. I would highly recommend this course to others and,may I say, not just women but to men also. If we wish to make this world amore equitable one then we need to educate men and empower women.Thank you Chrissy for the leadership, the Learning Institute for theopportunity and the GGA for the amazing platform of kindness, developmentand shared activities. Testimonial“Loved the layout. I got into the format...info, questions, exercises, casestudies assignments, final module quizzes. It worked well. the contentwas comprehensive enough to be challenging but not overwhelming. Each module was detailed but could be completed in a day whichworked well for me. The interaction was excellent. The feedback waspersonalised, thoughtful and related well to the individual needs. I would highly recommend this course to others. I appreciatedthat it could be taken at the participants own pace and thateach module was marked separately and returned before thenext one commenced. By: Chrissy SykesMaking a difference in 2022“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does."quote from William James psychologist, and philosopherWorking with the "My Body is My body Programme" you may never know the true extent ofthe work you are doing, but you are changing lives daily. Over the years, so many people havetold me how the programme has changed their lives, stopped abuse from happening andhelped others deal with past abuse. I have had messages of thanks from families where a child has heard the MBIMB programmeand revealed sexual abuse which has been generational, and because of this one childhearing that it is ok to tell someone, and that it is not their fault, the abuse stopped for thewhole family. The stories of physical, mental and sexual abuse are too many to mention, butthrough the programme I know many lives have been changed, and we will never truly knowhow many children we have prevented from being abused which is our greatest goal. This is what gives me the motivation to stay focused on getting our message out to others, and why I have always been adamant about keeping the programme free of charge to all. I never want children in schools that can not afford to pay for resources to go without a childprotection programme. So please stand with us and make a difference, you can share our free resources with peoplein your community, teachers, social workers, children in your family, there is so much you cando and it will make a difference.Thank you all of you that have supported us in 2021. Let's make 2022 an even safer year for children.Chrissywww.mybodyismybody.com

About 7% of children have attemptedsuicide by the age of 17 and almostone in four say they have self-harmedin the past year, according to a paperin the British Journal of Psychiatry, and experts say the figures could riseas a result of the pandemic. B Y LI ND A S AG E M A , B A E D (H O N S ) , D T MCHILD SUICIDEIS BOOMING
CHILDSUICIDE IS BOOMING The figures come from analysis of the millennium cohort study, which follows the lives of about 19,000 youngpeople born at the start of the millennium in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every year 703 000 people take their own life and there are many more people who attempt suicide. Everysuicide is a tragedy that affects families, communities and entire countries and has long-lasting effects on thepeople left behind. Suicide occurs throughout the lifespan and was the fourth leading cause of death among15-29 year-olds globally in 2019. According to the WHO report in June 2021. express feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, sadness and/or guilt andshamewithdraw – spending lots of time alone, not wanting to be around people orstopping seeing friendslose interest in daily life or things theyusually enjoysay things like ‘I wish I wasn’t here’, ‘Ican’t go on’, ‘I can’t take it anymore’ or‘people would be better off without me’,or talk a lot about deathgive away their possessionsseem agitated and/or behave in ways thatseem strange or out of charactershow changes such as eating or sleepingmore or less than usual, or a lack ofinterest in their appearanceuse drugs and alcohol to help them copewhen they’re struggling, which canintensify thoughts, feelings and impulsivedecision-making are self-harming, orhave self-harmed in the past What to look for:Creating opportunities for your child to talkto you, without pressure, guilt or judgement.Changes in your child’s behaviour can alsoindicate what’s going on for thememotionally. While these won’t apply toeveryone, your child may be experiencingsuicidal thoughts if they:Some young people will be very clear thatthey are thinking about suicide, whileothers won’t – and suicidal thoughts canarise as sudden urges or be consideredover a longer period of time. This canmake it difficult to know what you need todo to keep your child safe, and this isoften the biggest challenge for parents. There is no easy answer, or one size fitsall, parents are very often the last to know, because it is hard to face and admit, butgetting support is always better thandealing with the fatal consequences ofdenial.By Linda Sage MA, BA Ed(Hons), DTM www.lindasage.com
Sexting:It may feel awkward, but it’s important to explain tochildren the risks of sexting, how to stay safe and remindthem that they can talk to you if something ever makesthem feel scared or uncomfortable.By Jakeer Hussain Shaik - Founder and Chairman CHILD CHAPTER
The Internet can be a precarious place for children to hang out unattended. The growingincidents of child sexual abuse that often begin online are giving sleepless nights to lawenforcement officials across the world. There are predators out there often looking for targetsonline. And there are unfortunate parents who are most often clueless about their child’sonline activities till the time they realise things are dangerously out of hand.Awareness campaigns seek to highlight that while some offenders groom children onlinebefore they are abused, the challenges are far more complex. Over 80% of child abuseoffenders take place by someone the child knows who is already inside the “circle of trust”. This is the aspect of child sexual abuse that is very rarely spoken about, probably because it’sso uncomfortableOnes you won’t ever suspect:Child abusers are often smart and on many occasions are in positions of trust. Often theygroom the adults FIRST. It is so often the case that when someone is arrested, there is acomplete shock in the community “he was such a great guy” is often the comment because hewas successfully grooming the adults too!Blackmail, Bullying and Harm:Young people may think sexting is harmless but it can leave them vulnerable to:Blackmail – An offender may threaten to share the pictures with the child’s family and friendsunless the child sends money or more images.
Bullying – If images are shared with their peers or in school, the child may be bullied.Emotional distress – Children can feel embarrassed and humiliated. If they’re very distressedthis could lead to suicide or self-harm.Advice on talking to your child about sexting:Communication is vital: try to talk openly about the consequences of sexting: what mighthappen and where they can get help for themselves or someone they know. Here are a few ideas about how you can open up a conversation:1. Use something in the news, or relate it to something you have heard about a celebrity.2. Listen to their views on sexting.3. Explore how they might feel if a naked photo of them was shared on the internet.4. Be clear that you are against them sharing a naked photo of themselves, not just because it’s illegal but because of the risks.5. Make sure they know that sharing a naked image of someone else can be a form of abuse.6. Agree to whom they should talk to if they’ve any worries (this may not be you, but should bean adult you trust like an older sibling, guidance teacher etc). These efforts may seem simple but can go a long way in saving precious lives.By: Jakeer Hussain ShaikFounder and ChairmanCHILD CHAPTERwww.ChildChapter.org
UNDERSTANDING THE UNITEDNATIONS CONVENTION ONTHE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: The United Nations Convention on the child’s right is an international agreement based on the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights of every child irrespective of his religion, race, caste orgender. The entire functioning of Unicef is based on the stated convention and it is the most widelyratified international treaty on human rights. RIGHT TO INFORMATION UNDER ARTICLE 13 OF THE CONVENTION BY: ARYAN KUMAR The convention consists of 54 Articles and directs the government to make them available to every child possible. It is the duty of the government to check whether basic needs are made available to every child. The basic are:• Sustainability, progress, and production • A healthy community free of crime, bullying, and negligence• proper education that encourages children to achieve their full potential • the child must be under the guidance of their parents and have cordial relations with them • Be able to voice their thoughts and be heard.
UNDERSTANDING THE UNITED NATIONSCONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: The additional protocols were introduced in the UNCRC in the year 2000: First was that the countries shall notcompel children under the age of 18 to join their military forces. The second encourages states to ban childtrafficking, child pornography, and the enslavement of girls. More than 120 nations have already ratified thesearrangements. In 2011, a new optional protocol was introduced. This helps children who have had their rights abused to file alawsuit directly with the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. The UNCRC has been ratified by 196countries since its ratification by the United Nations in November 1989, with only one country yet to ratify it.International legislation binds those nations who sign up and the UNCRC to guarantee that it is enforced. TheCommission on the Welfare of the Child holds an eye on this. Under Article 45a, the UNCRC is also the onlyuniversal human rights treaty that allows non-governmental organisations (NGOs), such as Save the Children, asignificant role in its application. Eglantyne Jebb, the founder of Save the Children, wrote the world's firstdeclaration on child rights in 1923. Information is an important source to seek justice or know an individual's rights. The right to information issupposed to be an important weapon in the hands of conscientious people in the battle against corruption and theimplementation of transparency and accountability. • To maintain access to information under the supervision of public bodies, it is important to shape, execute, conform, and amend. • To facilitate transparency• To inspire elected leaders to be more transparent in their duties. • To hold corruption at bay• To ensure that citizens are well-informed • Democracy necessitates responsibility, which necessitates openness. Article 13 of the convention talks about the freedom of information. Therefore, the right to information becomes animportant aspect of considering the children rights under the given convention. . (Source A summary guide to the UN Convention on the rights of the child)(Source UN Convention on the right of the child, Every child has the right to survival, protection and education
UNDERSTANDING THE UNITED NATIONSCONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: ARTICLE 13 OF UNCRC “1. The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impartinformation and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or throughany other media of the child’s choice. 2. The exercise of this right may be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law andare necessary: (a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others; or (b) For the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals.” The right to freedom of speech for children is protected under Article 13. The article's first segment protectschildren's freedom to "search, obtain, and propagate information and ideas in all sorts" in a form that can beunderstood across boundaries. The second section restricts the limitations that can be placed on this privilege.Article 13 is part of a collection of rights of the children stating the details of children's civil and political rights.Importance of convention on the rights of childrenChildren's freedom of speech is barely debated, but it is a significant predictor of how well they are handled aspeople with rights. Children learn to explain how their rights are respected or infringed upon by voicing theirfeelings and opinions, and to speak up for the rights of others, by expressing their feelings and opinions. This rightis enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and PoliticalRights (Article 19)5, but the addition of a particular article on freedom of speech in the Convention of Right to Childstresses that civil and political rights extend equally to children and all humans. After all, in order for society todevelop in a transparent and inclusive fashion, all citizen classes, not only the most dominant, must be represented (Source Convention on the Rights of the Child, Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly resolution 44/25 of 20 November 1989 Source UN Convention on the right of the child Source Child Right International Network, ARTICLE 13: FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
UNDERSTANDING THE UNITED NATIONSCONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: ARTICLE 13 OF UNCRC Early on, children grow their ability to express themselves through play. As a result, it's important that they haveaccess to leisure sports, community events, and the arts (article 31). Children from ethnic communities have a rightto follow their own traditions, to follow and profess their own faith, and communicate in the language of theirchoice, which should be included in attempts to promote children's involvement (article 30). The right of children to freedom of speech has also been extensively discussed elsewhere. For example, theCommittee's Day of General Debate on the Media encouraged children's media ownership rights. Meanwhile, thegeneral comment on educational objectives notes that children should have the ability to share their viewpoints notonly on educational material but also on teaching practices and the school atmosphere in general. In other cases, the Committee has voiced reservations over bans on religious symbols being worn in schools, which it considers tobe a breach of article 13. There may be some restrictions on article 13, such as in the case of violent or obscene content, but they mustcomply with the CRC's guidelines. Furthermore, the publication of information in the media that could contribute tothe discovery of real children is subject to stringent guidelines. Any requirements, however, must still be balancedagainst a child's right to access and share information, as well as be lawfully enforceable. Children in prison shouldhave recourse to parts of this privilege that are not incompatible with their deprivation of liberty, according to Rule13 of the Law on the Protection of Minors Deprived of their Liberty.

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM 2021Risk reduction sensitizations, campaigns, symposia, andfun fare marks the commemoration of the 16 Days ofActivism 2021 in Northeast NigeriaIn line with SDG 5: “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, Humanitarian actorsand Global Goodwill Ambassadors together with the communities, government, traditional institutions, and the internally displaced persons to eliminate all forms of gender-based violence against women innortheast Nigeria. Activities conducted include gender-based violence risk reduction sensitizations, symposia, awareness creation targeting the entire communities and individuals as well.Men, Women, Boys, and Girls have significant roles to play in the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence, during the launch of the 16 Days on 25th November 2021, the community wasmobilized for a procession where all people thronged out in numbers for the community-wideprocession. During one of the symposia 10 couples of 20 individuals engaged in discussion on“Conflict Management and Control” in the family. This is so because most gender-based violence suchas intimate partner violence, denial of resources and emotional abuse happens in the homes. In one ofthe sessions tagged "each one reaches two," each of the participants reached at least two members ofthe community with the messages of how to end sexual and gender-based violence in society. On December 3rd, activities marking the International Day of the people living with disability, familiescaring for people living with mental disability were targeted where it was emphasized that family careand community support are key to the healing process of the people living with mental illness.
Various sporting activities for men, women, boys, and girls, the community members, andthe humanitarian actors were held to cementrelationships. Cultural celebrations and displayswere also held to celebrate diversity. Indeed, the 16 days were loaded with far-reaching,impactful, and fun-filled activities with eachcarrying a singular message: end all forms ofgender-based violence against women.

MAKE POVERTYHISTORY.WITH YOUR HELP, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.DONATE AND SAVE A LIFE
All started in 1992 when The United Nations Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) wasestablished at the first Rio Earth Summit. The countries (also called parties) present at the meeting(now 200) decided to meet every year to assess the progress in dealing with Climate Change. The firstConference of Parties was held in 1995 in Berlin. Since then we have had 26 COP, such as the Kyotoconference in 1997 (COP3), the Paris conference in 2015 (COP21). The last one was held in Glasgow,in the United Kingdom (COP26) from 31 October to 12 November 2021. COP27 will take place atSharm El Sheikh, Egypt in 2022.The UNFCCC takes scientific guidance from the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC),who present their Assessment Reports (AR) every five years, with AR6 due out in 2021/22. The IPCCproduced a special report on keeping global temperature rise to 1.5°C in 2018, showing the significantdifference between a 1.5°C rise and a rise of 2°C, and the dramatic risk of exceeding both these goals. Italso recommended a global ‘net zero emissions target by 2050.UNDERSTANDING COP26Without any action in reducing CO2 emissions, Global Warming will exceed 1.5°C by 2040
TThe first agreement was the Kyoto Protocol, which set binding emission reduction targets for 36industrialized countries and the European Union. It included two phases: 1) an average of 5 percentemission reduction compared to 1990 levels over the five-year period of 2008–2012. 2) The secondphase ran from 2013 to 2020, with Parties committing to reduce GHG emissions by at least 18 percentbelow 1990 levels; however, fewer countries made commitments to this second phase. The USA wasnotably absent from both phases of the Kyoto Protocol.Held in 2015, The Paris Agreement, was distinctly different from the Kyoto Protocols, as it called for actionfrom all 195 signatory countries and not just the industrialized nations. In addition to mitigation (cuttinggreenhouse gas emissions), it also included adaptation (responding to the impacts of Climate Change)and loss and damage measures (response to climate catastrophe); it also agreed that wealthier nationsshould provide finance and technology to help poor and vulnerable countries to take action. At Paris, the countries made pledges to implement the Paris Agreement through ‘Nationally DeterminedContributions’, national targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by either 2025 or 2030. Thesewould be reviewed every 5 years. The Road To COP26The Ambassador | Issue 16 | January 2021
Held in Glasgow, in the United Kingdom, from 31 October to 12 November 2021, the COP26 was big inaspiration and that has brought in a lot of criticism. According to Alok Sharma, President of COP26, itwas a fragile victory. Positive is the agreement to firmly preserve the Paris commitment of keepingGlobal Warming below 1.5°C, with a 45% cut in GHG emissions by 2030 compared to 2010 and net-zero by around the mid-century. According to Boris Johnson (UK Prime minister), the conference hasestablished the death of Carbon energy. But it is actually the agreement on carbon energy that hascaused a lot of criticism, as it started as a "coal phase-out", and became "coal phase down", due topressures by India and China. Another criticism is about a not very clear commitment on the $100 bnyearly funds for most vulnerable countries. We have kept 1.5 within reach, but the pulse is weak.Nowcountries must meet and deliver on the commitments made at #COP26.The Ambassador | Issue 16| January 2022
The problem related to GDP?Alternative measures to GDP (only social)? Part 2BEYOND GDP:
In our research, we have found a series of indexes that include only environmental factors. Forexample,e here we have the Ecological Footprint (EF) (that measures the impact in terms of globalhectares per person consumed by a specific country – we will have an in-depth analysis of this in oneof the future issues of The Ambassador), the Living Planet Index (LPI) (that measure biodiversity inplanet Earth), the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) (That measure the carbon footprint of a product in all itslife cycle), and, finally, the Input-Output Tables (IOT) by Georgescu-Roegen (That assess the process ofproduction in terms of material/energy input and output). All these indexes can be considered onlyenvironmental indexes. The Ambassador | Issue 16 | January 2021
The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better andmore sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. 9 | B O O K I S H M A G A Z I N EGET A SECOND OPINION WITHOUTLEAVING YOUR HOME. Better Healthcare. We are bringing the heart back inmedicine. It is a beautiful story that I would like to share with the world. Hopefully, this will. Specifically, here, I mean the chronic, complicated, and seemunsolvable Healthcare crisis. I have witnessed a lot of devastation to bothmy patients and my fellow physicians. On one hand, patients are sufferingfrom increasingly uncontrollable out-of-pocket expenses as more ( cost isbeing shifted to consumer responsibility) Patients can not afford to eat, support their families because a big chunk of their earnings goes to payfor healthcare bills. This effort has picked up substantially after the World Economic Crisisstarting in 2008 when I knew then that the current Healthcare model isunsustainable, as healthcare cost is breaking the bank and forcing manypeople into bankruptcy. Also, the doctors got hit with denied, delayed, or ridiculous paymentsafter spending more than 38% of their time dealing with Insurancebureaucracy, and paperwork,!Thus I have developed a ( Direct Contracting for Healthcare Model) withcombined Internal Medicine and Cardiology services in incrediblyaffordable pricing with transparency, greatly trusted care andimpeccable credibility which qualified our program to be offered by theCity of Tampa for Non-Medicare Retirees for three consecutive years.
