Chef’s Kiss:Chef’s Kiss:Chef’s Kiss:Passi on Personified is Helping Inspire, Motivate, andEncourage Us All for a Brighter TomorrowA Modern-day Renaissance man is hard to find in mostcrowds, but there is a glaring exception: Chef AndreRush is easy to spot wherever he happens to be on anygiven day. His resume is as diverse as the day is long, with a 25-year career in the military as CEO, motivationalspeaker, author, social media influencer, philanthropist, and chef, to name a few. If all that wasn’t enough, theman also has the physique of a Greek god and an evenbigger heart. His resume is as diverse as the day is long, with a 25-year career in the military as CEO, motivational speaker, author, social media influencer, philanthropist, and chef,to name a few. If all that wasn’t enough, the man alsohas the physique of a Greek god and an even biggerheart. Chef Rush comes from the humblest of beginnings, raised in the projects of Mississippi by old-fashionedparents. He developed a passion for cooking despitehis father’s belief that men belonged outside andwomen belonged in the kitchen. Fast forward a fewdecades later, and you’ll find Chef Rush not onlyexcels in the kitchen but also actively works to helpinspire others to pursue their passions, whatever theymay be, to the fullest. No Ordinary PersonNo Ordinary PersonNo Ordinary PersonChef Rush isn’t an ordinary person. As famous as he is,with millions of followers on social media platformsincluding Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn,and others, he has just scratched the surface of what Ibelieve is coming next for him in the future. Why do Ibelieve he’s not peaked in fame and influence? Myfriend and fellow GGAF Board Member Lisa Jones and Iinterviewed Chef Rush for over 90 minutes. I asked avariety of in-depth questions about his career, his heartfor helping, and what motivates Chef Rush to do all he isdoing. Straight away, I knew there were some fantasticthings about this man. First, he is humble, intelligent,well-spoken, and present. Call Me ChefCall Me ChefCall Me Chef Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Not once did I see Chef Rush check his phone, look atthe clock, or get impatient during the prolongedinterview. He was engaged, thoughtful, courteous, andinteresting. I learned a lot about him in my researchbefore the interview and asked him about how all thediverse things he’s done, blended with his background, are all tied together. His answers were consistent andimpressive. He’s convinced me he might be the hardest-working and most talent-laden professional I’ve evermet. He has an old-school work ethic, to say the least. Healso has a grand vision with the talent and resources tobring them to fruition. Chef Rush is many things, as previously mentioned, so Iasked him, of all the titles you have rightfully earned,“Why is Chef the one you cling to?” Chef’s responsewas insightful; he said, “Of all the things, Chef was the titlepeople told me I could not be.”-CHEF RUSHOne of the most surprising things I learned about ChefRush is his unique ability to tap into pausedmomentum, unlike anything I’ve ever heard about.Imagine working on a project for a brief amount of time, then having a year layoff from the activity beforepicking up and continuing right where you left off, notskipping a beat. Chef Rush has that ability. He told usabout when he was still a private in the Army and wasselected (not common) for a cooking exhibitioncontest. Chef Rush soaked up all he could over thistwo-week event, then went back to his normal Armyroutine for the next year, and ultimately returned to theevent a second time, returning to his learnedtechniques from the year before. Chef Rush has many other examples of how he’sutilized this particular “parking” skill to become amaster of many things, including ice sculpting of allthings.By: Ira Bowman

Big Man with a Bigger HeartBig Man with a Bigger HeartBig Man with a Bigger HeartChef Rush is, first and foremost, a man of compassionwho loves his family. I watched his eyes water twiceduring the interview, and both times were when he wastalking about his family. The first time his eyes started totear up, he was talking about his mom, around her finalmoments. Chef Rush was clearly emotional due to hisstrong bond and feelings for his deceased mom. Thesecond time his eyes watered up, my eyes also startedto get moist. Why? He was recounting the untimely demise and tragedysurrounding the deaths he has suffered in the recentpast. “Unfortunately, in the last three years, I’ve lostmany: mom, dad, best Friend, family, and recently my11-year-old daughter.. that same instance, she lost herfive and 6-year-old brother, and her mother lost All herkids.” Chef Rush explained in a social media post. Thisraw story is so hard to hear, and I feel for Chef Rush.Honestly, I will not share all the details here. However, Ido need to bring out the message to help peopleunderstand the powerful motivation now stronglyentrenched in the heart and mind of Chef Rush to helphim reach millions of kids. His motivation is not vaingloryor vanity metrics. He wants to positively shape the nextgeneration and inspire people to become what theydream of becoming, build self-esteem, self-worth, self-need, instill respect in them, and most of all, help themlive as he gives back. “If you get the kids, you get theparents, and I’m not selling a product…” He’s looking to do great things without worrying abouthow it personally or professionally benefits him directly. His motivation is selfless, not selfish; it’s from his heart. This gentle giant is 5’11”, weighing in at 285 with 24”biceps. The largest muscle is his heart. He is a physicalspecimen with a relentless work ethic, as I’ve mentionedin the article opening, and now he has the motivation toreach the youth to help positively impact the nextgeneration. How is he bringing his message to theyouth? He meets them where they are on social media. ChefRush is not interested in social media metrics fornumbers' sake. He does, however, have a huge socialmedia network following that is continuing to grow, andI believe it will topple 10 million followers on every majorsocial media network in the next few years. He alreadyhas 4.5 million followers on YouTube, 2.5 millionfollowers on TikTok, and a million plus followers onboth Facebook and Instagram. His content hasalready been seen staggeringly billions of times. Ibelieve this following has been built in large part due tothe authenticity of his huge heart. There is nothingpretentious or phony about Chef Rush. He is anincredibly authentic, humble, talented human beingthat people gravitate to because of the light thatilluminates from within him.“People love to laugh together.” Laughterbrings people together and helps relieve stressand intimidation, per Chef Rush. We makesnap judgments naturally, but laughter helpsus break through barriers of all types, including social, racial, economic, stigmas, and more.

Saving Lives Via 2,222 PushupsSaving Lives Via 2,222 PushupsSaving Lives Via 2,222 Pushups How many pushups would you do to save a single life?Chef Rush does 101 pushups a day each for the 22veterans who tragically succumb to suicide daily.“Every day is the first day…when you wake up, YOUWON!” a mantra of Chef Rush reveals his mentalityhere. It clearly shows you how seriously Chef Rushtakes this very personal issue. As a military veteranhimself who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), it is easy to see why. Chef Rush admitted in ourinterview that he has struggled with this issuepersonally on several occasions but, thankfully, neversuccessfully. Despite his struggles, his personalspotlight shines brightly to help bring awareness andshow support that goes far beyond window dressing. Pushups are personal and an outlet to help make apositive impact. Frankly, most of us likely would struggleto get 2,222 pushups done in any one single daywithout the proper motivation, of course. Curious about how long it takes to do the workout, Iasked Chef Rush how long it takes to do them. Iexpected he would tell me it takes hours. To my surprise,Chef Rush told me it only takes him 90 minutes (all atonce) each day to do these awe-inspiring 2,222pushups. That comes out to 101 each for the 22 totalveterans who fall victim to suicide.Pushups are personal and an outlet to help make apositive impact. Frankly, most of us likely would struggleto get 2,222 pushups done in any one single daywithout the proper motivation, of course. So committed to this goal of helping end the tragedy,Chef Rush is CEO of a nonprofit 501(3)(c) 2222 Inc.,which is trying to help the community at large, not justveterans with a positive mindset and overcome stress, anxiety, and mental health issues to instill healthymental wellness. Page 14

Page 15

In his own words, Chef Rush says this on his LinkedIn profile,“I DO 2,222 push-ups daily for those that can’t. The reason why? To makeyou stop and think! I help millions in an unorthodox way for suicideawareness and prevention, as well as kids for bullying/cyberbullying.Everyone needs motivation, inspiration, a cause, or simplyacknowledgment of existence.”Chef Rush has a unique presentation style and delivery method filled withenergy and passion that comes through in spades no matter the stage, or theaudience that he is engaging. One word of caution: if you are in the audiencewith him, he’s likely to ask you to do a pushup with him. Talking to Chef Rush for 90 minutes made me want to do more than just one,in full disclosure. His energy is contagious in the very best of ways. It is easy tosee why he is so popular on the speaking circuit and why so manycorporations (Charles Schwab, Ernst & Young hire him to come and inspiretheir team from the stage. Not Your Cookie Cutter Motivational SpeakerNot Your Cookie Cutter Motivational SpeakerNot Your Cookie Cutter Motivational Speaker“I’m not going to bore people to death withPowerPoints; I am the PowerPoint.” Page 15

Food Saved Chef Rush’s LifeFood Saved Chef Rush’s LifeFood Saved Chef Rush’s LifeChef Rush is quoted as saying, “Food saved my life.”I asked him to explain what that meant in our interview.“9-11 (September 11th attacks of 2001 Chef Rush wasin the Pentagon.) I was there in the Pentagon. I lostsome guys that I trained with…I was part of the recoveryteam. I was a kid. He continued after explaining a bit ofhis mentality and makeup. “I needed to do this when 9-11 happened, they came in, they said (people at thePentagon) that we have some people you can talk to,(despite the stigma associated with therapy), and ChefRush was asked point blank, “do you like your job.”Because of the risk associated with the admission ofneeding help, Chef Rush knew that getting help wouldeffectively end his military career. So, Chef Rush turnedto cooking, throwing all his heart and soul into workingout his feelings through cooking. He was “obsessedwith food and cooking,” which helped him understandlife's meaning and express his voice. “Cooking to cope” became a life-saving tool for ChefRush. He said, “Cooking has helped me in so manyways!” Cooking is a vehicle that allows him to becreative, inspire others, release stress, tie to his familythrough his mom, a teaching tool, and ultimately, it’s asanctuary to escape the outside noise of the world, all ofwhich helps his mind. It’s also a vehicle that allows himto give back to the world. “After all, everyone needs toeat. Food brings back something to all of us inmemories. It’s also necessary for fuel and health.”I asked Chef Rush about this juxtaposition between theflexibility in the recipe and the strict coherence instilledin him by his father and the military. Here’s what he saidin response, “you are very intuitive (Ira) as you listen andlook at things that other people don’t see, and then youdissect it, which is a very great thing. (thank you, ChefRush!) The military was a conduit, and as soon as I couldwalk, my dad put me out in the field to work on the farm.My dad believed boys went to work and girls went toschool. My dad did construction for literally 50 years; it was hardconstruction. He had me doing construction as a kid. That was what I felt at the time; all my other friends wereout being kids, and I had the same shoes on, the samethis, you know, and I felt deprived. I was getting up at 3or 4 o’clock, and I had this structure that was alreadyembedded in me. My dad told me two things that stuckwith me to this day. (first) My dad made me the hardestworker (he said always be the hardest worker in theroom); that’s why I work as hard as I do and don’t sleepas much as I should. That’s why I’ve been to threecountries in the last three weeks: one island and 17states. And I just got here yesterday as I landed herefrom the White House, and then I will leave here in twodays and get back on the road again. (second) My dadsaid, ‘Dre, someone is always going to want to see youfail.” My mom, however, taught me how to loveunconditionally, and it didn’t matter; she would bring inthe homeless and give food away, even when we werehungry. She said everyone needed someone. It stuckwith me. I learned how to cook from my mom. “I get mypassion from my mom.”The creativity Chef Rush has adopted as an adult, the“passion came out” in the military in an unexpectedway. He was cooking for the masses and was supposedto follow a specific recipe. However, he adapted thefood he was in charge of creating to help make thingsunique, even when he was called to the carpet about it,as he was supposed to cook “mess hall food in bulk.”“Did you do this? You have to keep on a schedule.” Perhis commanding officer/supervisors. One Interesting JuxtapositionOne Interesting JuxtapositionOne Interesting JuxtapositionThat Fascinated MeThat Fascinated MeThat Fascinated MeI was raised by an Air Forceveteran and came from a longline of family military service. Iknow firsthand that discipline, structure, and following thedesignated systems are a bigpart of the military mindset andculture. Because Chef Rush is sodiverse, he is more than just amilitary veteran, as we’vecovered. However, he hasexpressed that the best chefsdon’t always follow the recipe. Page 16

Page 12One Word to Describe ChefOne Word to Describe ChefOne Word to Describe Chef RushRushRushSo, to answer the question of why the juxtaposition? Passion is the answer. Chef Rush is not a walking contradiction, not in the slightest. He is as passionate as the day is long, full of conviction, discipline, and more. I have nothing butrespect for Chef Rush, even more so after speaking with him for this interview. Chef Rush is not competing againstanyone but himself. If I had to choose only one word to describe him, I would say he is passionate. Perhaps we can addhis picture next to that word in the dictionary? I know there’s much more to Chef Rush than just this singular word;however, if you can use only one, that’s for sure the one I would select.PassionPage 17

Leaders learn continuously. Losers think they know it all… which are you? Tiger Woods is one of the best golfers in the world. But what makes him better than the localprofessional? It’s his desire to learn to be better every single day. To learn and model the masters,to tweak his game with small incremental improvements in every way possible. To be humbleenough to know that to be the best, you need to practice and practice and practice. If you look at other leaders in their game, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Elon Musk, they all read, learn, and do courses all the time. They set themselves up for success through knowledge andthen putting that knowledge into action. They learn more to earn more! Do you want to set yourself up for success in 2024? By: Lisa JonesBeyond the Bright Lights: Nurturing Empathy in theSeason of GivingThe holiday season is a time for joy and celebration, but it is also a time when the struggles of those lessfortunate are often magnified. While many of us are surrounded by warmth and love during this time of year, there are those who are forgotten and left to face the cold streets alone. One group that often goes unnoticed isthe elderly and homeless population. These individuals often find themselves without a place to call home andwithout anyone to turn to.When we think of homelessness, we often imagine young individuals or families struggling to make ends meet. However, there is a growing number of elderly people who find themselves without a roof over their heads. These individuals have worked hard throughout their lives, contributing to society and building a future forthemselves. Yet, circumstances such as job loss, medical expenses, or the loss of a loved one can push them tothe brink of homelessness. their lives, contributing to society and building a future for themselves. Yet,circumstances such as job loss, medical expenses, or the loss of a loved one can push them to the brink ofhomelessness. For many families on the edge of homelessness, the holiday season presents an agonizing choice: gifts orrent... It's a heartbreaking decision that no one should have to make. Parents want to provide a joyful Christmasfor their children, but they also need to keep a roof over their heads. This dilemma is especially challenging forthe elderly, who often have limited resources and face additional health and mobility issues.Homelessness 12 Days of Christmas": A Deeper LookTo truly understand the impact of homelessness during the holidayseason, let's take a closer look at the "Homelessness 12 Days ofChristmas." On the first day of Christmas, there is the struggle to find awarm place to sleep. On the second day, it's the search for a hot meal. Each day brings a new challenge, from finding clean clothes to stayingsafe on the streets. The "Homelessness 12 Days of Christmas" is a grimreminder of the hardships faced by the homeless during this time of year.Homelessness takes a heavy toll on all ages. The physical and emotionalstrain of living on the streets can exacerbate existing health conditions andlead to new ones. Lack of proper nutrition, exposure to harsh weatherconditions, and the inability to access healthcare services all contribute toa decline in their overall well-being. Additionally, the loneliness andisolation that often accompany homelessness can have a devastatingeffect on their mental health.Page 21

Page 22

Addressing the issue of homelessness during the holiday seasonrequires a collective effort from society and the government. It is notenough to simply acknowledge the problem; action must be taken toprovide support and assistance to those in need. This can includeincreased funding for affordable housing programs, expandinghealthcare services, and implementing policies that protect the rightsand well-being of the elderly and homeless population.Despite the profound dedication of numerous nonprofits, the scaleof global need continues to grow. It's unfortunate that even with thetireless efforts of organizations like ours, the Global GoodwillAmbassadors Foundation, and TeamWomen, who have joinedforces with St. Paul Police to provide vital resources for homelessindividuals and at-risk children, the demand still outweighs thesupply. Homelessness is a complex issue, demanding our compassionand understanding. Each homeless person we pass on thestreet carries with them a narrative of misfortune, of life'sunpredictable turns, that could have befallen anyone. What wecan't afford to do is to overlook these narratives and let themfade into obscurity. It's not enough to merely acknowledge theirexistence; we must extend our empathy and reach out in waysthat can make a tangible difference. The woman huddled under a blanket may be someone's motherwho lost her way; the man with the weathered face might besomeone's brother who fell on hard times. Even as we go aboutour daily lives, it's crucial to remember that they, too, had homesonce, loved ones they cared for, and dreams they aspired toachieve. They are human beings who deserve respect andcompassion, just like everyone else. We must remind ourselvesthat every act of kindness matters, no matter how small it seemsbecause for someone struggling with homelessness, it couldmean the world. The Need for Societal and Governmental InterventionGGAF MalawiWhile these organizations strive to fill this gap, it's evident that additional help is needed to make a significantimpact. Each day, they face new challenges in their mission to support those who are most vulnerable in oursociety - the homeless, elderly, and orphans. The struggle is real, but so too is their resolve to overcome it. Theircompassion fuels their commitment to serving those in need. While they cannot solve every problem alone, their work shines as a beacon of hope in an often bleak world.Page 22

Page 23

While the issue of homelessness may seem overwhelming, there are practical steps that individuals can take tomake a difference. Here are some ways you can help:1. Donate to local homeless shelters and organizations that provide support to the homeless.2. Volunteer your time at soup kitchens, food banks, or community centers that cater to the needs of thehomeless.3. Advocate for policy changes that address the root causes of homelessness and provide adequate support for all.4. Reach out to local community centers or religious organizations to see if they have any specific programs orinitiatives aimed at helping the elderly homeless during the holiday season. In addition, there are needed items that can make a significant difference in the lives of the homeless. Hygieneproducts, such as toothbrushes, soap, and deodorant, are often overlooked but can greatly improve a person'ssense of self-worth and dignity. Small first-aid kits can also be invaluable, providing basic medical supplies forminor injuries or ailments that might otherwise go untreated. Socks are the most needed items as these oftendouble as gloves, and many homeless people wear more than one pair at a time because they don‘t haveshoes. Consider including non-perishable foods that are easy to open and consume without cooking facilities.Items like granola bars, canned tuna with pull-tops, and bottled water can provide vital nutrition. Seasonally appropriate clothing is another much-needed item - thermal underwear in winter or light hats insummer to protect from extreme temperatures. Seasonally appropriate clothing is another much-needed item -thermal underwear in winter or light hats in summer to protect from extreme temperatures.Lastly, do not underestimate the power of human connection. A compassionate word or a kind smile may notseem like much, but it often means the world to those who feel invisible. So remember, when you're packingyour 'giveaway kit', include not just material items but also your kindness and empathy. As we celebrate the holiday season with our loved ones, let us not forget those who are less fortunate. Theelderly, homeless, and children deserve our compassion, support, and assistance. By raising awareness abouttheir plight, advocating for change, and taking practical steps to help, we can make a difference in their lives. This holiday season, let us remember the forgotten and work towards a future where no one, regardless of age,is left without a place to call home. How to Help Spread Joy this Holiday SeasonJoin us in spreading awareness andsupport this holiday season and everyday. Remember, even small acts ofkindness can have a significant impacton some one's life. Together, we canmake a difference.Ira BowmanIra Bowman PhotographyBowman Digital MediaPhotos by:Page 23

Hunger is real, not just in America but around the world! Unfortunately, Hunger intensifies during winter andHolidays and becomes more painful. We all see this real paradox every Holiday Season: between one side, very lavish parties full of expensive food items such as red meat, shrimp, seafood, turkey, beer, and alcohol, all leading to a variety of illnesses from indulgence in eating and drinking for almost six weeks staring atThanksgiving such as acute gouty attacks, markedly elevated blood pressure, acute decompensation of apreviously compensated Congestive Heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillationleading to strokes just to mention a few!On the other side of the spectrum, sadly, are millions of hungry Americans and people around the globesuffering from a lack of basic food to sustain life in addition to cold weather during the winter. This affectsthe most vulnerable groups, such as children who lose their only source of food while schools close for theHolidays! This is even complicated by natural disasters, wars, conflicts, and the unbelievable rise in foodprices due to the war in Ukraine going on for two years now following three years of the CoronavirusPandemic, thus making people unable to afford to buy their basic food requirements.Similarly, Seniors and veterans have added the problem of homelessness to hunger, suffering frommalnutrition, and even failure to thrive. We see and live this paradoxical scene over the holiday season, withmore extravagant parties that culminate with the New Year celebration. There is nothing wrong withcelebrating, but the excessive money spent could feed millions of hungry Americans if only toned down alittle or make arrangements to donate the untouched food to the needy people and the partially used foodto feed the animals without throwing the food away!To understand the essential facts and scope of Hunger in America, Here are some points that willshock you.Hunger affects close to 50 Million Americans, 17 Million of whom are children, and both child hungerand senior hunger are still soaring, leading to:56% eat food past its expiration date, and 69% had to choose between food and utilities66% had to choose between food and Medical Care, 57% had to choose between food and housing31% had to choose between food and education, 84% of households with children are food insecure, and as a part of a coping strategy, 79% of these households report purchasing inexpensive, unhealthyfood to feed their families.Food Insecurity exists in every County in America, reaching as high as 33% in Humphreys County, MS..With this magnitude of the problem, there are bright solutions, including increasing charities by manywonderful fellow concerned Americans and teaming up with various corporations (as a part of theirsocial responsibility giving back) to help fight and hopefully end hunger, which is closely linked topoverty, which should not be happening in the richest nation on earth!Page 27

So maybe we can together adopt a morecompassionate approach, especially during the Holidays where sharing something healthy with the lessfortunate will not only give life-saving meals, a caring spirit, and hope, improving the health of so manyfellow Americans but will also bring peace and harmony to our communities. No one should be left behind hungry during the Holiday Seasons and beyond! This exact model can bereplicated around the globe as there are more than 238 million people with food insecurity, up 10 % from2022.Improving food security helps reduce domestic violence, social unrest, crimes, anddepression and improves overall population health. In addition, restoring human dignitythrough random acts of kindness would prove that we truly care about each other!Dr Adel Eldin, MD, FACC, FACP, MBA, GGAFPage 28

In the vibrant heart of Lilongwe, Malawi, a transformative initiative is taking root, reshaping the educational landscape and nurturing a safer, more informed future forchildren. This is the story of the MBIMB (My Body is My Body) project's groundbreakingjourney initiated in Malawi by the Yorghas Foundation and funded by the Global GoodwillAmbassadors Foundation. This is a tale of dedication, innovation, partnerships andcommunity empowerment.A Meeting of Minds: Teachers' Briefing at Malembe SchoolThe story begins at Malembe School in Lilongwe, where over 6000 eager learners fill theclassrooms with hopes and dreams. Here, a crucial briefing meeting with the teachers andMoses Davide Bucher from The Yorghas Foundation marked a turning point. Fourteendedicated teachers from lower classes gathered, bringing insights and enthusiasm to aproject destined to change lives. The MBIMB Concept: A Beacon of HopeAt the heart of this narrative is the MBIMB project. Vetted through a rigorous process bythe Ministry of Education and hailed by experts and NGOs alike, MBIMB stands as abeacon of hope in education reform. Its integration into the curriculum is not just a step, but a leap towards a brighter, safer future for Malawian children.Expanding Horizons: Inclusion and Community MobilizationThe teachers' recommendations speak volumes. Their unanimous voice highlights theneed for inclusivity - bringing boys into the fold to address and prevent abuse. They stressthe importance of community mobilization, recognizing that real change stems from thegrassroots. Their insights are a clarion call for action beyond the classroom walls.A Vision for the Future: Recommendations and RequestsThe MBIMB project, embraced wholeheartedly by Malembe School, is poised forimmediate implementation. Teachers have laid out clear requests: timely delivery ofproject materials, (funded by the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation) T-shirts,manuals, banners, and the introduction of engaging inter-school competitions. These arenot just demands, but the building blocks of a transformative educational experience.Empowering the Future: Yorghas Foundation’s Pioneering Efforts in Malawi's Educationwith GGAF and The MBIMB ProgrammePage 47

During a recent mission to monitor the #WaterForLifeProject in Itoku OloruntedoVillage, the Hope Ambassadors team seized the opportunity to engage with the localSaint Anglican Primary School, a cornerstone of education in this remote community.A key part of our visit was educating the students about the significance of#HandHygiene. Under the banner of our #CleanHandsSaveLives campaign, weemphasized the critical role of maintaining proper hygiene in their daily lives.Equally important was our advocacy for the #MyBodyisMyBody program. Thisinitiative is crucial in enlightening young minds about Child Abuse Prevention. Westressed the importance of body autonomy, teaching the children to recognize andreport any inappropriate behavior, especially concerning their private areas. Our founders, Amb. Taiwo Olowu and Mandy Olowu, took this opportunity to inspirethe students. They emphasized the value of education in securing a bright future andaddressed the serious issue of teenage pregnancy and its potential impact on younggirls' futures. To brighten the day further, the children received various gifts, including handsanitizers, reusable sanitary pads, school bags filled with exercise books, textbooks, pencils, erasers, and festive Christmas items. This visit was not just a fulfilling experience for us but a rare and joyous occasion forthe children, who seldom experience the warmth of external visitors due to theisolated location of their school.A V I S I T T O S A I N TA N G L I C A N P R I M A R YS C H O O L I N I T O K UO L O R U N T E D OHope AmbassadorsHope AmbassadorsPage 51

Children in Orphanage CentersA call to serve By: Mboza Lwandiko Orphanage centers have been existing throughout the years, everywhere in most countries in the World. These centers are particularlyrecognized to have a task of keeping orphans and vulnerable childrensafe, to an environment where they can at least be secured and acquiretheir basic needs. The question to ask ourselves is: Do they really findprotection in these orphanage centers and are the facilities attainedsatisfactory? Page 59

Page 60

Children in Orphanage CentersA call to serve Many might be in a view that all orphanage centers are always assured to receive grants fromthe government and other well-known companies for their operation; in fact, such a notion isnot exactly true to most of the orphanage centers. This article mostly uses documentaryanalysis in elaborating how several orphanage centers operate, especially in developingcountries, and through such enlighten, it appeals to individuals, families, groups, associations, companies and organizations to act accordingly.Introduction:Orphanage centers, care systems or alternative care; refers to residential institution, totalinstitution or group home, devoted to the care of orphans and children who, for various reasons, cannot be cared for by their biological families. The parents may be deceased, absent, or abusive. There may be substance abuse or mental illness in the biological home, or the parent may simplybe unwilling to care for the child. The legal responsibility for the support of abandoned childrendiffers from country to country. With regard to the United Nations Children’s Fund - UNICEF data 2021; around 2.9 millionchildren are estimated to be living in residential care, based on the available data, EasternEurope and Central Asia have the highest regional rate of children in residential care at 585 per100,000 children while East Asia and the Pacific has the largest number of children estimated tobe in residential care as well as the third highest rate at 131 per 100,000. Some of the countriesthat have the highest orphan rates in the world include Russia, Iran, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico,South Africa, and Peru. These countries have seen a significant increase in their orphan ratessince the start of the coronavirus pandemic.iiBrief History of orphanage operation:Recognition of orphans care arose and continued in a vast of ways to date. During 1570’s – 1660,Orphans started to be acknowledged. The Romans formed their first orphanages around 400 AD. Jewish law prescribed care for the widow and the orphan, and Athenian law supported allorphans of those killed in military service until the age of eighteen. Plato (Laws, 927) says:"Orphans should be placed under the care of public guardians. Men should have a fear of theloneliness of orphans and of the souls of their departed parents. A man should love theunfortunate orphan of whom he is guardian as if he were his own child. He should be as carefuland as diligent in the management of the orphan's property as of his own or even more carefulstill."iiiPage 60

Page 61

Children in Orphanage CentersA call to serve Examples of Organizations in concern of orphans and vulnerable children:Children have the right to grow up in an environment that supports their physical, psychological, social and emotional development. UNICEF; with governments and partners develop policiesand programs aimed at preventing unnecessary family-child separation and protecting childrendeprived of parental care. UNICEF focuses on the root causes of family child separation, whilestrengthening child protection systems and supporting children’s transition from institutionalcare to community and family based alternative care. SOS Children's villages; is the world’slargest organization focused on ensuring that children and young people without parental careor at risk of losing it grow up with the care, relationships and support they need to become theirstrongest selves. SOS Children's Villages International comprises more than 130 national SOSChildren's Villages associations. As members of the federation, each SOS Children's Villagesassociation is committed to applying the federation's statutes, standards for quality child care, and stringent financial and administrative practices.v to mention a few, other include; Alliancefor Africa’s Orphanages and Communities, Children of the Nations, Global Orphans Foundation(GOF), Orphan Life Foundation and Center for Excellency for children’s care and Protection WorldOrphans.Significant detected findings for caution:Though a well immediate good option of providing help to an orphan or vulnerable child is toplace him or her in an orphanage center. It should be noticed with attentiveness that, there are anumber of challenges in some orphanages, therefore keenness first on observing their genuineoperation is crucial, especially to most of the developing nation’s orphanage centers, with regardto a number of challenging circumstances. Here are some stated problematic conditionsdiscovered:Visitors to developing countries can be taken in by orphanage scams, which can includeorphanages set up as a front to get foreigners to pay school fees of orphanage directors'extended families. Alternatively, the children whose upkeep is being funded by foreigners maybe sent to work, not to school, the exact opposite of what the donor is expecting. The worst evensell children. In Cambodia, from 2005 to 2017, the number of orphanages increased by 75%, withmany of these orphanages renting children from poor families for $25/month. Families are promised that their children can get free education and food here, but whathappens is that they are used as props to garner donations. Some are also bought from theirparents for very little and passed on to individuals in various countries, who pay a large fee toadopt them. This also happens in China.Page 61

Page 62

Children in Orphanage CentersA call to serve Van Doore & Nhep, (2023); examines the intersections of orphanage trafficking, a form of childtrafficking and modern slavery, and the sale and sexual exploitation of children with reference tothe Sustainable Development Goals. It outlines the contextual challenges of these intersectionshighlighting the special protection needs of children residing in institutions and outlines howorphanage tourism and funding undermine care reform efforts of national authorities.Recommendations from further navigation on orphanages environment:Orphanages have enormous challenges, yet they are worth it. With regard to a number oftestimonies found from those who grew from orphanages and from an example of a popularstory of McKenzie, which articulates that: Richard McKenzie was 10 years old when he and hisbrother were dropped off at an orphanage in North Carolina. Their mother had committedsuicide and their alcoholic and abusive father could not care for them. The Home, as everyonecalled it, provided the children with the stability they needed to build character and self-respect.Some were orphans, but most were victims of poverty and neglect, and the home provided themwith a safe shelter. McKenzie stayed until he finished high school and went on to college, as didmost of the orphans. He is a professor of economics and the author of twenty-five books.Remarkably most of his friends at The Home have had similar successes. Today, the foster caresystem is strained beyond capacity; countless children languish in broken families withinsufficient means. McKenzie shines a refreshing clear light on the ongoing debate about theproper fate of these children. His story reminds us that institutional care can be the best choicefor children trapped in horrible circumstances (McKenzie, 1996).A call for assistance:A call to Governments, civil society, NGOs, Community Based organizations privatesector, scientific and technological organizations, institutions, academia and other individuals isof paramount importance to the big need required. By your support, these children will enjoynourishing meals, have safe places to sleep and receive door opening educations. They will alsohave access to professional counseling. Acquire all the services crucial for their well-being and socontribute anyhow in giving and raising awareness of the urgent need to strengthen the capacityof countries to improve national systems for counting, monitoring and reporting about thesevulnerable children.Page 62

Page 63

Children in Orphanage CentersA call to serve Research indicates that orphanage centers, despite their intentions, may not be the optimalsolution for the care of orphans and vulnerable children. This article highlights variousshortcomings of such institutions and suggests a shift towards integrating these children intofamily environments, where they can receive more personalized and nurturing care. However, with such a resolution, there will always be a number of other children to whom such an optionmight not be appropriate or applicable to them, due to their different problematiccircumstances, as orphans and vulnerable children have all different problematic situationbackgrounds. Orphanage centers can still be managed well as long as the challenges to them arenoticed. The better solution to abide by, is to keep the orphanages and concentrate on strategiesto assure their wellbeing, in handling them accordingly, in all areas required (including thesevere challenges), for example through assuring the right policies are set and guided correctlyfor their effective operation. Also, having organized and sustainable services for their effectiveoperation, which requires the efforts of many for their success. Therefore, the fact that otherorphans and vulnerable children could be best handled to families, is a good opportunity.Nevertheless, it is totally not wise to eliminate orphanage centers completely as it can be a verygood chance for other children.References:McKenzie, R. Knowledge is Power for Keeping People Safe From Abuse Gaslighting is a psychological manipulation tactic that can be particularly insidious in toxic relationships. It involves the abuser attempting to make the victim doubt their own perceptions, memories, or sanity.Understanding gaslighting is crucial, as it often occurs in various forms in abusive relationships, includingthose leading to domestic violence.Gaslighting Dynamics:Gaslighting typically unfolds in a series of steps. It often begins subtly, with the abuser making small, seemingly innocent comments to create doubt in the victim's mind. Over time, these comments escalateinto more overt forms of manipulation. The goal is to make the victim question their reality, memory, andeven their own sanity.Psychological Impact:In the realm of criminal psychology, it's important to recognize the severe psychological impact ofgaslighting. Victims may experience anxiety, depression, and a loss of self-esteem. Understanding theseconsequences is crucial not only for supporting survivors, but also for developing preventive measuresagainst domestic abuse.Gaslighting and Power Dynamics:Gaslighting is closely linked to power dynamics in toxic relationships. The abuser seeks control byundermining the victim's confidence and independence. Analysing these power imbalances is essentialfor comprehending the underlying dynamics that contribute to the cycle of abuse.By Linda SagePage 78

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that onlycompassion can heal.”During the month of December, Impact Sierra Leone (ISL) joined City of Glenarden Mayor, HonorableCashenna A. Cross, in spreading kindness to 40 economically reserved senior citizens at a nursing facility inWashington DC. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our team presented these amazing seniors withsunshine bags, which included a personal inspiration note, hygiene and toiletry supplies, candy, winter hats, and warm socks, all within a bright yellow bag. The seniors were greeted with smiles of hope as we spent anafternoon with them, enjoying holiday treats and musical entertainment. The residents were all smiles as theywere personally handed each gift and given a word of inspiration. For many who don’t receive visitors, ourengagement and outreach were very memorable. For some of these heart-warming senior citizens, this wasperhaps the only visit they received that day.Someone once said, “Generosity is the habit of giving freelywithout expecting anything in return.” The sunshine bags were made possible because of thegenerosity of others. ISL aims to bring hope and smiles to manycommunities across the globe through our acts of kindness. We are filled with joy to give back as community partners inachieving the mayor’s mission: “Moving the Mission Forward.”The seniors we met expressed gratitude to the mayor and ourteam for taking time out of our schedule to bring the sunshine.ISL’s Seeds of Life Program made this outreach activitypossible. I graduated!!!! I know you are probably wondering what this has got to do with the humanitarian world you have currentlyimmersed yourself in reading about, but I promise it does. I joined the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation in2019, and that was the beginning of many other life-changing decisions. See, the GGAF is full of humanitarians whoare passionate about sharing knowledge; no wonder the GGAF Learning Institute exists. If you have not takenadvantage of it to learn something, please do—I promise it is worth it. But I digress. After completing approximately eight courses offered by the organization and engaging with diverse intellectuals(who are remarkably accessible to members), I recognized the need to contribute to the community by becomingan educator. I was also encouraged by different members to go back to school since education does not have anage limit (It really felt challenging for me as a full-time employee and mother), but I took the step. The journey has been demanding, both financially and emotionally, with moments of self-doubt. However, with theunwavering support of my community, the possibility of failure became non-existent. While we often discuss ourcontributions to society, today, I want to share what the GGAF Family has done for me as a member. It providedhope that I could overcome challenges, offered inspiring role models—especially women who surpassedformidable barriers to become doctors and professors—and created a family that celebrates every achievement ofits members (However small it may seem).Motivated by these experiences, I am driven to continue my education to amass the knowledge necessary to jointhe extensive pool of GGAF volunteer teachers and instructors. In essence, as you read this, I invite you to becomepart of our community. Here, you'll find love, abundant encouragement, and a family that motivates you to elevatenot only as a humanitarian but also as a professional. The Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation transcends being a mere organization; it's a community of like-minded individuals who believe in the transformative power of education and knowledge-sharing. Throughout myjourney from a student to a graduate, GGAF has been my pillar of support, my source of motivation, and my fountainof inspiration. As I embark on this new chapter, I don't just carry a degree—I am an empowered member of a globalfamily that is making a difference, one lesson at a time. Join us, and let's collectively soar to new heights ofknowledge and compassion.Congratlations!!FROM ALL OF US AT GGAFYour commitment to bettering the world aroundyou is a testament to your character, Faith. Yourremarkable dedication to humanitarian causes hasnot only impressed us at GGAF but also inspiredmany in your community. We are confident thatwith your continued efforts, you will bring abouteven more significant changes. Once again, congratulations on your achievementsand thank you for being such a stellar advocate foreducation and societal betterment.Page 83

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a vibrant and joyous celebration in India and across the world. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, marked by dazzling fireworks, beautifully litoil lamps, and colorful decorations adorning homes and streets. The festival holds cultural and religious significance, emphasizing the importance of positivity, prosperity, andthe triumph of knowledge over ignorance. We have made this event a social event by celebrating it withchildren who are from underprivileged communities and studying at our Learning Centers.Recently inaugurating a new Learning Center in Gurugram, Haryana, we've enrolled 50 students in just amonth, while our Delhi center boasts 80 students. To mark this achievement, we organized a specialcelebration, gathering children from Delhi to Gurugram for a joint mega event with 120 children. The day wasfilled with performances, including dance, plays, and poems, accompanied by rewards, gifts, and refreshments. The highlight was a powerful play shedding light on a critical societal issue: violence against women, specifically Acid Attacks, which greatly resonated with our guests. This event was made possible with thesupport of organizations like Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India, RedBus, ESME, and Blue Heaventhrough their CSR initiatives. Notably, senior members from these organizations actively participated in thefestivities.Heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the supporting organizations, team members, families, donors, interns, andvolunteers who made this event a success. The Outreach attracted many beneficiaries, and the services featured Vital Signs, MedicalConsultations, Blood Tests, Eye Checks, Eye Treatment and Glasses, Nutrition Talk/Counselling, andFood Items. Speaking during the outreach, the Founder and Coordinator, Chichi Ononiwu, advisedparticipants to keep their focus on God in order to overcome the current economic situation in thecountry. She encouraged them to explore alternative sources of protein for their family’s upkeep, especially forthose who have to cater to little children. Ms. Ononiwu explained that life is a personal experience, andeveryone must endeavor not to let society and trends determine what they do, especially when it comesto economic sustenance. She advised them not to be involved in unhealthy competition in lifestyle, which has rendered so manypeople imbalanced and wrecked so many young people, leading them into money rituals, robbery, andprostitution. She encouraged parents to be inquisitive and concerned about their children's lifestylesand to ask questions when they notice a strange and sudden inflow of money from their kids, who theyknow are not working or doing any visible business. Ms. Ononiwu stressed that children should not be given the responsibility of catering to adults; if not, adults would give up the right to correct and discipline them when they are going astray. She admonished parents to endeavor to do their best for their children and provide them with strongmoral foundation, amongst other virtues and skills, on which they can build their future.Ms. Ononiwu reiterated the mission of BWI, which is to advance the quality of life of rural and sub-urbancommunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the improvement of health, the support of education, andleadership development. In conclusion, she deeply appreciated BWI’s Covenant Partners, whom shesaid God has blessed with grace to consistently make sacrifices to see that Communities are blessedwith not only medicine and food but with the Good News of the gospel every month! She prayed in the Name of Jesus, that the scripture in Psalm 41:1-3 says, “Blessed is he that considereththe poor: The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth: And thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies,” neverstops speaking in their lives!Page 87

The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Partiesof the UNFCCC, more commonly known as COP28, was the 28th United NationsClimate Change conference, held from 30 November until 12 December at ExpoCity, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Page 90

Page 91

This year the Cop 28 was held in the UAE. Some might find that controversial as thiscountry produces vast amounts of oil, others might think this is an opportunity tohighlight important fossil fuel issues in an area where it is deemed very important. Achance to discuss, share and move forward.Climate change affects us all. With global warming comes noticeable changes andthese are ever increasing. The use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and certain agriculturaland industrial practices serve to increase greenhouse gases (carbon monoxide andmethane). these gases get trapped in the earth's lower atmosphere resulting in globalwarming.Cop 28 brings together delegates from nearly 200 countries in an attempt to compile anagreement that will help to reduce global average temperatures. UN Climate Change conferences (or COPs) take place every year and are the world’sonly multilateral decision-making forum on climate change with almost completemembership of every country in the world. To put it simply, the COP is where theworld comes together to agree on ways to address the climate crisis, such as limitingglobal temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable communities adaptto the effects of climate change, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 I was fortunate enough to attend this year’s event and was able to listen to a range ofdiscussions, panel debates, individual interviews and exhibitions. It was an enlighteningexperience. I was also fortunate enough to be introduced to a Sheikh who is also ahighly talented sculptor. His wooden throne was an amazing piece of work crafted froma single piece of wood. We enjoyed conversing and he kindly showed me his recycledgarden. It consisted of a whole range of art works, hobbit houses, statues made frompieces of microwaves and wonderful organic treehouses and play areas all made fromcast-off items. Such a humble man with great insight. Some might argue that it is just all “hot air” but the final quote should be left to onemade in the summing up of the event: -“Whilst we didn’t turn the page on the fossil fuel era in Dubai, this outcome is thebeginning of the end,” said UN Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell in hisclosing speech. “Now all governments and businesses need to turn these pledges into real-economyoutcomes, without delay.”We may not have all the answers, we may not always agree but it is important that wenever stop talking about the issues, that we listen to our scientists, our inventors as wellas our politicians and that we each play a part in keeping our planet, our creatures, ourvegetation and ourselves safe.ATTENDING COP 28 INDUBAI, UAEDECEMBER 2023By Dee Russell ThomasPage 91

The Case Against Casual The Case Against Casual "Hi""Hi"Messages on Social MediaMessages on Social MediaBy: Chrissy SykesPage 92

Page 93

The Case Against Casual "Hi" Messages on Social MediaIn the bustling world of social media, where every notification could be a potential connection oran important message, receiving a simple "Hi" or "Hello" can be surprisingly frustrating. It's acommon experience: you hear the ping of your phone, rush to check, and find... just a "Hi." Nocontext, no purpose, just two letters floating in the digital ether. It's like receiving an unmarkedpackage at your doorstep – mysterious, but more perplexing than exciting. When someone reaches out with just a "Hi," it puts the burden of conversation on the receiver. It's like walking into a room and saying hello to someone without any follow-up. Sure, it's polite, but it's also incomplete. In our fast-paced world, where time is precious, clarity is not justappreciated – it's necessary.Imagine you're juggling multiple tasks, and your phone keeps buzzing with these "Hi" messages. Each one requires you to stop, open the app, and check the message, only to find there's noactual content. It's not just inefficient; it's a drain on your time and energy. When reaching out tosomeone, especially someone who might be managing a busy schedule, it's considerate to includethe purpose of your message. It shows that you value their time and have a clear reason forcontacting them.Social media is a powerful tool for connection, but its value diminishes when interactions arereduced to basic greetings. By going beyond "Hi" and sharing your intent right away, you fostermore meaningful and productive conversations. Whether you're asking for advice, sharing anopportunity, or just wanting to catch up, stating your purpose makes for richer and moreengaging interactions. How to Approach Messaging More EffectivelyBe Direct and Clear - Start your message with a greeting, but quickly follow it with the reasonfor your message. For example, "Hi [Name], I'm reaching out to discuss..."1.Respect Boundaries - Understand that not everyone checks social media regularly or isavailable to chat at all times. A clear message respects the receiver's time and boundaries.2.Personalize Your Message - Show that you're not just sending a generic greeting. Tailor yourmessage to the recipient, indicating that you've thought about why you're contacting themspecifically.3.Prompt Action or Response - If you're seeking a response, ask a clear question or indicatewhat kind of reply you're looking for. This helps move the conversation forward.4.While a simple "Hi" might seem like a friendly overture, it often leads to more frustration thanconnection. In the realm of social media, where interactions are numerous and time is limited, being clear, direct, and purposeful in our communication is not just polite – it's essential. Let'smake every message count, fostering interactions that are meaningful and respectful of eachother's time and energy.By: Chrissy SykesPage 93

Navigating the ChoppyWaters ofBreadcrumbingBy: Chrissy SykesPage 94

Page 95

Introduction In the ever-evolving landscape of modern dating, a new phenomenon hasemerged, leaving many feeling confused and frustrated: breadcrumbing. This term, whichconjures images of Hansel and Gretel leaving a trail of breadcrumbs, aptly describes abehavior increasingly common in today's digital communication era. What is Breadcrumbing? Breadcrumbing occurs when someone sends sporadic, non-committal messages to keep another person interested, without intending to pursue agenuine relationship. These crumbs of attention – a text here, a like there, perhaps a flirtyemoji – are enough to spark hope but insufficient to foster a real connection. Why Do People Breadcrumb? The motivations behind breadcrumbing vary. For some, it'sa way of keeping options open; for others, it's a desire for attention without commitment. In an age where digital interactions outweigh face-to-face ones, the ease of sending amessage without investing emotionally has made breadcrumbing an all-too-commontrend.The Emotional Toll For the recipient, breadcrumbing can be an emotional rollercoaster. The sporadic nature of contact can create a sense of uncertainty and insecurity. Hopeignited by a sudden message can quickly turn to disappointment when it leads nowhere, creating a cycle of emotional highs and lows.Signs of Breadcrumbing Recognizing breadcrumbing is crucial. Some telltale signsinclude:Inconsistent communicationNon-committal responsesFlirtatious messages without plans to meetLast-minute cancellations or vague excusesFocus on physical intimacy over emotional connectionHandling Breadcrumbing If you suspect you're being breadcrumbed, here are somestrategies:Seek Clarity: Direct communication about intentions can sometimes clear the air.1.Set Boundaries: Know your worth and what you're looking for. Don't settle for less.2.Focus on Self-Care: Invest time in activities and relationships that uplift you.3.Know When to Walk Away: If the pattern continues despite your efforts, it may betime to move on.4.Breadcrumbing is a challenging aspect of modern dating, but understanding andrecognizing it is the first step toward healthier relationships. In a world where genuineconnections seem rarer, valuing oneself and seeking meaningful interactions is moreimportant than ever.Navigating the Choppy Waters of BreadcrumbingPage 95

There are many global website links for elder care available at our website but we believethat social protection begins with national respect. W.I.S.E. was created as a platform tojustify respect for our elders by exposing the extraordinary stories every humanaccumulates as they negotiate life from a crawling start to a sedentary old age.The deeper more intimate elder stories are mostly kept unspoken in deference to theyoung and their preoccupation with the excitement of today and why not? The young areon that exceedingly fast escalator up, reaching for exciting wonderful dreams but thosedreams would be even more achievable if counselled by the experience of elders.Much of the work created by W.I.S.E. then is towards influencing and improving respectfor those who have gifted their youth to the world but are now retired from the big stageonto the sidelines to reflect on their past in old age. Having all those warnings of the wayup to share is worthy of the respect and protection from those new to the game of life.W.I.S.E. shares those stories in abundance.Since the old were also once young and beautiful, W.I.S.E. uses glamour to illustrateelderly strengths and values and you can see that at work in several ways. First enjoy theW.I.S.E. poetry annual but notice it has an antiquarian (elderly) book cover as a referenceto the value of its content then take a look at Star Wise, Wise Words, the W.I.S.E. Journaland the wonderful talent it celebrates and it will be pretty obvious how we all have goodreason to reflect on our contributions in life, not least of which delivered through thepower of poetry & verse. The Poetry & Verse CompilationByThe GGAF Poets SocietyPage 96

Much like a pebble beach being cleansed by the tides of the sea, when we write poetryour spirit is also cleansed by equally powerful tides of creativity. Those labours have theaffect of fuelling our ability to face yet another wave of life's challenges or indeed reflectthe innumerable wonders of the world in action and the desire to celebrate it in verse. That is why this years poetry annual can be found lying upon that pebble beach, madeready for you to open freshly tidal wiped every time. Our poets are by no means exclusiveto the work of elders either as we engage talent from all ages and from across the world. This year the narrative begins with an emerging young poet from Cebu in the Philippinesand ends back 7,00 miles away in the UK with a poet in his early eighties. However for allthe difference in age you will notice a common theme of the emotions we all experienceevery day of our lives no matter what stage we are in our individual journey. Emotion is ofcourse the common denominator in many art forms but you will discover an eclectic mixof subject matter and styles all reflecting personal experiences of each poets journeythrough life and as it turns out it’s mostly, albeit not exclusively, about human interaction. The elderly then have the knack of distilling issues into a digestible and understandableexplanations of the world, its wonders and mans incurable obsession with itself and thatsbecause they have so many years of life experience accumilated ready to share.“In the end it's not the years in your life but the life in your years”If you don’t already know who said that, (No not Mae West, she stole it!) find out inW.I.S.E. Here are some considerations:Content Relevance: AI can generate content based on patterns it has learned from large datasets. However, itmay not fully understand the nuances of a specific job or industry. Human-generated resumes often have theadvantage of contextual understanding and can tailor content to specific job requirements. CUSTOMIZATIONIS KEY OR “TWEAKING” THE RESUME, AS SOME OF US REFER TO THIS SPECIALIZED WRITING.Creativity and Personal Touch: AI may struggle to infuse resumes with a personal touch or creativity thatreflects an individual's unique qualities. Human-generated resumes can capture personal experiences, achievements, and skills in a way that resonates with hiring managers.Page 104Customize

Company Expansion: Openingof New Branch in Major City toServe Growing DemandsAdaptability to Job Market Trends: Human resume writers can stay abreast of the latest trends in resumewriting and job market expectations. AI models might lag behind if they haven't been updated with the latestinformation.Emotional Intelligence: Human-generated resumes can convey a sense of emotional intelligence andinterpersonal skills, which are often critical in many job roles. AI may not fully capture the emotional nuancesthat can make a resume stand out.Customization: While AI can produce generic resumes based on templates, human-generated resumes canbe more customized to an individual's unique career path, achievements, and aspirations.Grammar and Style: AI is proficient in grammar and style, but it may not always capture the subtleties oflanguage and tone that a skilled human writer can. Human resume writers can adapt the writing style toalign with industry norms and company culture. In summary, while AI-generated resumes can be a valuable tool for creating a baseline or starting point, thebest resumes often result from collaboration between AI tools and human expertise. Professional resumewriters can use AI as a supportive tool to enhance efficiency, but the final product is likely to benefit fromhuman creativity, context awareness, and the ability to tailor content to specific job requirements.Embark on the thrilling journey of landing your dream job in the magical land of Employmentia! Running ProjectHelpYouGrow.com for the past six years, I have had many conversations with jobseekers who struggle with the emotions and thoughts that can come with a prolonged job search. The longer a person struggles to find a job, the more frustrating and frankly scary the situationbecomes. This tension and stress can wear on a person to the point where it can lead to job searchdepression. This depression is not only real, but it is also often a debilitating condition.Understanding the causes and potential coping mechanisms can be crucial for anyone facing thisuphill battle. If you find yourself in this situation, today I hope to help you with the root causes and give yousome tools on how to overcome them for your mental health’s sake. Before we dive in, please notethat if you are struggling, I certainly recommend that you seek the advice of a professional. Youdon’t want a temporary situation to affect you permanently, and I don’t want that for you, either. By: Ira BowmanWhy Job Seekers Get Depressed:Page 106Job Search Depression is Real:Understanding the Struggle andFinding Solutions to OvercomeJob Seekers can get depressed for a large variety of reasons, and the list below is not exhaustive;however, from my purview, these are the most common ones that I’ve seen others struggle with.Rejection and Failure: Repeated rejections and feeling like every application is a dead end cantrigger feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy. It can be tough to separate the rejection of a jobapplication from taking it as a personal rejection. Failing to secure a single job or string of positionscan feel like failing at life. No one likes rejection or feeling like they have failed, so this can be toughto swallow, especially during a prolonged job search.Loss of Identity: Our jobs often define us, and unemployment can make us question our value andpurpose. For those who identify who they are with their career and struggle to find a new job, it canleave them feeling lost or worse. There are few, if any, who grow up dreaming of being jobless orunemployed.Financial Stress: The financial instability of unemployment can create additional anxiety andpressure, worsening depression.Truly, the longer the job search takes, the more pressure can startbuilding to the point of financial ruin.People may have to borrow to survive or give up things liketheir homes or cars. Being evicted or having a vehicle repossessed is not pleasant, even in the bestof circumstances.

Being evicted or having a vehicle repossessed is not pleasant, even in the bestof circumstances. Isolation and Loneliness: Losing the social connection of a workplace can lead to isolation andfeelings of disconnection. Many of us get the majority of our social interaction through our work. When that relationship is severed, and communication with coworkers, vendors, and clients stops,it’s easy to see how people can feel isolated and become lonely. When the job search is prolonged,it makes sense that isolation and loneliness lead to depression and a feeling of low self-esteem. Uncertainty and Loss of Control: The unpredictable nature of the job search can feel overwhelmingand leave you feeling powerless. How many jobs do you have to apply to and interview for, tosecure the job? The fact is no one knows going into the job search how long it will take. As timebegins to add up into months and even go beyond the year mark, it can feel like a person’s life isspiraling out of control. Acknowledge and Validate Your Feelings: It's okay to feel down, depressed, or even angry.Recognizing and accepting your emotions is the first step to managing them. Talk it out. Findsomeone you trust who is available and talk with them regularly about your efforts to find a job, thestruggles you’re facing, and how you feel. Just having an accountability partner alone will dowonders for most people. Prioritize Self-Care: Take care of your physical and mental health. Eat healthy, exercise, get enoughsleep, and engage in activities you enjoy. You may feel like you need to be working sunup tosundown to find a job, but it’s hard to pour from an empty cup.If you maintain a good mentalheadspace, the odds are you’ll perform better in the interview process and have a higher successrate of landing the job. I personally walk 25,000 steps a day, and the endorphins I produce, thenrelease into my body, help me feel good no matter how the rest of my day is going. Coping Mechanisms for Job Search Depression:Page 107

Page 108

Set Realistic Goals and Expectations: Break down the job search into smaller, achievable tasks toavoid feeling overwhelmed. Celebrate small wins and avoid comparing your journey to others.Sometimes, our expectations are too lofty for the reality of the job search, so they’re nearlyimpossible to achieve. If you set unrealistic expectations, it can be a major pitfall that eventuallysinks you into a depression. If you are not sure what realistic expectations are with respect tofinding a job, I suggest talking to a few recruiters to get an idea of the average length of time in yourfield/market it takes to land the job. That might help you to see it isn’t anything against you at all; it’sjust the way the market works in your area. Stay Connected: As I mentioned earlier, don't isolate yourself. Talk to friends, family, or a therapistabout your struggles. Build a support network that can encourage and motivate you. Humans aresocial beings by design, and in the hardest of times, leaning on your community to help prop you upis a smart way to help keep you going emotionally and mentally strong as you search for the nextjob. Focus on What You Can Control: This can apply to every aspect of life, even the job search. Youcan't control the outcome of your applications, but you can control your effort, attitude, andpreparation. Learn new skills, update your resume, and practice interview skills. Your effort can notonly help you land the job but also keep your head on straight while you pursue the next position ifyou simply monitor your performance and live up to your expectations for how hard you are trying.Do the right things with effort, and then accept the results.Seek Professional Help: If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't hesitate to seek professional help froma therapist or counselor. They can provide tools and strategies to manage your depression andnavigate the job search effectively. You can also seek professional help from career advisors, resume writers, and other job search professionals who can help shape your job search from amastermind approach. Professional help for both the mind and the job search is something I highlyrecommend to all. I’ve never regretted investing in myself, and I don’t think you will either. Even ifyou have to cut expenses in other areas to come up with the funds, I encourage you to do so. DropNetflix, stop going to Starbucks, and do other discretionary spending like these activities if needed. There are also nonprofit organizations out there to lean on if your finances are in dire straits. Additional Tips:Volunteer or freelance: Doing something productive can boost your mood and confidence whileshowcasing your skills.Network actively: Attend industry events, connect with people on LinkedIn, and reach out toyour network for potential leads.Focus on transferable skills: Highlight skills you've gained from previous experiences, even ifthey weren't in your ideal field.Celebrate your accomplishments: Take time to recognize and appreciate your efforts, even ifyou haven't landed a job yet.Page 108
